One of TMAA's primary goals is to reduce violence towards our target groups, increase knowledge and compassion between our target groups and the general community, provide positive role models to our target groups' youth as well as the general community's youth, and to offer gang aversion strategies to all.  Through after school self-defense seminars, lectures, and formal martial arts training in collaboration with other peer to peer and support organizations, we hope to make a difference and perhaps prevent a reoccurrence of the incident which led to the formation of TMAA, the senseless murder of Matthew Shepard in Wyoming in 1998.
