Grand Master Craig lives and teaches in San Francisco, California and currently serves as President - TMAA Board of Directors and Executive Chief Instructor - (Instructors) International Executive Council. In addition to these TMAA positions, Grand Master Craig is also on the Board of Directors of Castro Community on Patrol (CCOP), a citizens safety patrol based in San Francisco, and also serves on the advisory committee of the International Association of Gay and Lesbian Martial Artists (IAGLMA) Born and raised in Scotland, Ken first experienced the martial arts when serving with the British Army. Travelling the world as a highly sought after computer programmer, Ken has visited many countries and continents in his travels and likes nothing more than visiting a new culture, and learning about its similarities and differences. Arriving in the San Francisco / Bay Area in 1991, Ken fell in love with the topography, the climate, and the racial and sexual diversity and decided to make his home here. Although Ken had a wide and varied self-defense experience prior to arriving in the US, he began formal training in TaeKwon-Do and HapKi-Do under Master William Kim in Vallejo, and soon thereafter with Master Rick Powell in Benicia and Pleasant Hill. Earning black belt rank, Master Powell and then junior instructor Ken formed Morning Calm Martial Arts Academy in Pleasant Hill, where Ken "cut his martial arts teeth" in teaching, motivating, and mentorning students of all ages. It was in 1998 with the murder of Matthew Shepard that Ken decided something had to be done about the, then, pervasive aggression and intolerance shown toward LGBTQ individuals. As an openly gay, out, instructors at Morning Calm, Ken decided to establish a club in the Castro villiage of San Francisco and within one month, with the help of two gay and one straight instructor had formed Triangle TaeKwon-Do Castro Club. This club continues to be the flagship of the Triangle movement and is the cornerstone of the Martial Arts Program (MAP) within the Triangle Martial Arts Association. Over the years, Ken has devoted over forty hours a week to the development and continued advancement of TMAA, for much of the time as an unpaid volunteer. In 2005 a small $500 a month stipend was authorized by the Board of Directors for Ken as Executive Director of TMAA. Of the original founders of TMAA, Mr. Andy Maguire is now a Master Instructor (4th Dan TaeKwon-Do) and currently serves on the board of TMAA. Mr. James Gardner is now a senior insructor (3rd Dan TaeKwon-Do) and serves on the board of directors of TMAA. Mr. Terry McCullough is pursuing his own TaeKwon-Do endeavors outside of TMAA.
